since 1997

MECATER engineering was founded in 1997 by Samir ENNOUR PhD in geological and mining engineering from the Nancy School of Mines.

At the start of its activity, Mecater worked exclusively for the ERAMET group in the Nickel mines in New Caledonia and in the Manganese mines in Gabon. With a current workforce of 35 engineers and technicians, Mecater has succeeded in diversifying its customer base and in building the loyalty of the Glencore group with its subsidiary Koniambo Nickel, the Imerys group, the Vale group with its subsidiaries in New Caledonia and Indonesia.

Foundation Phase

Mecater founded by S. Ennour as a mining geotechnical consultancy, starting small with core services.

2002–2010

Early Expansion

Firm expands in geotechnical and mining infrastructure, maintaining fewer than 10 employees.

2011–2018

Expertise Growth

Workforce grows to 20–30, strengthening expertise in geotechnical and mining infrastructure projects.

2019–2024

Diversification Phase

Workforce stabilizes around 40, diversifying international clients, while maintaining selective Tunisian projects.

2025–2027

Scaling Up

Team reaches about 50, company restructuring, formalized methods, and expanded high-profile client portfolio including Rio Tinto.
